specifically, the products made with these tools need not be open source, but everyone should have the tools available to create their own. this enables a thriving ecosystem of expression and competition.
blender is wonderful. godot is a blessing. GIMP is surprisingly solid. kdenlive, while not where i need it for my work, is a blessing over nothing at all.
we are so fortunate that programming languages, too, are largely open-source by default. this enables anyone to make their own tools, too!
i feel blessed to be surrounded by so many tools that are free to use and contribute towards. if it weren't for these tools, i wouldn't be where i am today. i have pretty much everything to thank them for <3
