i'm having a hilarious tech problem with the bluesky app on android i'm sure y'all are gonna love
on my home network specifically, the app cannot fulfill network requests. there's no error, it just endlessly spins.
it does not matter if i am on a VPN, in fact VPNing to my house from elsewhere does not reproduce this issue. it's only while on my home wifi.
current semi-reliable workaround: open the app, swap to a networked app (this is important), wait a while, then swap back in. this works for exactly one (1) (☝️) render of the timeline, after which the app truly stops loading data for no reason :D
correction: i believe android apps can read the system's SSL root certs, but i cannot add new ones
i fucking miss general purpose mobile computing, man.
this inconvenience has single-handedly made this new phone the black sheep of my entire local network
it works, but i have to apply several hacks in order to make it work. this is painful. android PLEASE just provide an API for system-level DNS resolution and certificate verification
what do you mean android apps can't read the system's DNS servers
what do you mean android apps can't read the system's SSL certificate store
what do you mean this is not a problem on iOS
what insane, upside-down world have i been thrown into here
