words cannot overstate the incredible work that @julia has done for sharkey. thank y'all, everyone on the timeline who has shown your support to her through the course of this latest security release.
reminder that sharkey is a labour of love built upon a mountainous tower of slop, and any amount of work done to improve it is nothing short of a miracle.
howdy n'yall! i'm LIVE on streamplace again, exploring some more vulkan! come on down if you wanna learn or just wanna hear me yap about it for a couple hours 💫 💚
for full reference: this specific laptop is an alienware x15 r2 w/ i7 12700H, RTX 3060, 16GB RAM. the specs should let this perform a little under my desktop PC at home, and was actually what led me to upgrade the GPU in my PC in the first place. i've mostly kept to my macbook for mobile use though.
for desktop i'm absolutely a KDE plasma girlie, but GNOME works nicely on a laptop form factor! gestures feel nice, and the UI mostly gets out of the way. not quite as customisable and versatile as plasma, but GNOME extensions help me get a little more out of the environment.
if i ever switched to linux on the go in the long-term, i would have to invest in a different laptop that has the I/O i want. ports in particular are kinda weak; less than my macbook pro ;p
test-driving an alienware laptop with fedora workstation out in the field and i am collecting Lots of Thoughts regarding how comfortable i'd be using this setup in the future.
fwiw, most of my issues so far are with the laptop's design, not linux.
