specifically, i do not make, nor aim to make, child-friendly content. anything that fits this criteria should be regarded as an outlier. an exception to the rule
@tulpenkiste RISC-V is definitely optimistic, but i wouldn't rule it out for the future! given valve's titanium reliance on 32-bit x86, i don't think anyone was really expecting valve to even sniff at ARM until dataminers discovered otherwise. keep in mind also, that they only did this for their VR headset likely because it's a strong market trend with technical backing behind it. ARM desktop gaming is still quite a ways away, and RISC-V hasn't hit web browsing reliability yet.
either way, we will 100% be running translation layers until morale improves, though. my best hope is that x86, ARM, and RISC-V coexist in such a way where codebases trend towards platform agnosticism, and cross-compilation becomes a mostly-trivial effort. a girl can dream!
@tulpenkiste ARM builds of steam games! we already have an ARM client on macOS (albeit only some components; not the entire stack), and valve have reportedly ported steam and gamescope to ARM for the frame
@CenTdemeern1@julia i... right. yeah. i guess they wanna do what bluesky did, ignoring the fact that ATproto and activitypub are two very different protocols with very different limitations
please goddess above add emoji reactions next. i'm so sick of platform fragmentation and this move genuinely makes me happy. hope this hits downstream chuckya in the near future! (assuming it hasn't already)
