@kopper if this reprioritisation is based on route or user agent, i think this would be very doable on nginx

i'll keep my options open, though! i think i will still set up a dedicated VPS because i Absolutely Do Not Want my entire server dragged down by a single service again

@kopper i remember being too tired last night to understand why none of this made sense, and then realised it's because this guide uses HAproxy, and i don't. LOL

the basic idea i get is "let requests timeout after 10 or so seconds; set a hard queue limit for requests so the server doesn't get hammered." makes sense! i'll look into this for nginx later.

@privateger as mentioned in another reply; i'm not sure what media would suddenly be causing this to happen so frequently. i've had more banger posts that choked my server far less than this

update: that didn't work, so i'm buying a dedicated VPS just for iceshrimp. i'll be moving this entire instance there tomorrow.

if that doesn't work, i guess i go insane, unplug all my computers, throw them into the sea, and move to a goat farm in nepal.

now running iceshrimp.net with a nice value of 10. everything else on my server runs at base level 0, so hopefully iceshrimp will ultimately yield for everyone else. for my sake
