@thermia rawdog openssl!! but i have a neat helper script now to make the process ridiculously easy for me.

one trip through an article online, another through the openssl manpages to make my weak rsa2048 into strong secp521r1, and i'm very self-sufficient now!

@argv_minus_one @kopper it does, but it's extremely limited, and OS-specific. you can get display and display only. MDN docs claim there's no audio support, and my own testing on macOS completely failed.

@kopper i've dropped a bit of my sympathy just seeing the direction mozilla's been going lately... i'm sure the actual firefox engineers mean well but. like. i still don't have webUSB. or proper screen capture API. and other APIs i still can't use that i've forgotten to mention. what the hell is going on

i have been reminded that post/note/object IDs are unique across major activitypub implementations, and generally immutable, particularly to federated instances. that's a big wrench!

i often wonder how feasible database migration scripts are between major fediverse instance backends

like, if people could just easily (given time per data) migrate to a whole new server without any critical loss, that would be rad. particularly nice for single-user instances
